SHILLONG:
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said the state government will continue to take up with the Centre on pending issues related to the implementation of the inner line permit (ILP), the inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India and others.
“Be it here or be it in Delhi, we keep on taking up pending issues with the Prime Minister or be it with the Home Minister,” Tynsong told reporters.
He was responding to a query if the state cabinet will take up pending issues of the state with the union home minister Amit Shah during his two-day visit to Meghalaya. Shah will be chairing the plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) at the State Convention Centre on January 19.
“Right now, we don’t have much time. Just now the President has left (Shillong). It is so tight for us. Tomorrow again, the home minister is reaching Shillong between 3:30 pm to 4 pm. So we still don’t have much time to discuss, we will see tomorrow,” Tynsong said.
On the alleged mismanagement of the Meghalaya Games, the deputy CM said the minister in charge of sports had already clarified everything.
“Except on that day, the inaugural day where due to lots of protocols, lots of SOPs which were in place because of the VVIP visit so little problem was there but right from yesterday onwards I think this issue was not there anymore,” he said.
