Baghmara:
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Tuesday graced the 32nd Foundation Day of Capt Williamson Memorial Government College Baghmara with the Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya Department of Education H.M.Sangpliang as Guest of Honour.
Speaking at the function, Education Minister Rakkam Sangma fondly remembered the founding Father’s of Capt Williamson Memorial Government College Shri Lotsing Sangma the then MLA of Baghmara and other prominent personalities who have contributed immensely in bringing the College in South Garo Hills District.
He also thanked and appreciated all the founding principal and other lectures who have worked tirelessly with a meagre salaries in providing a degree to all the less privileged and financially unsound people of that area.
Further, he urged upon all the faculty members of the college to strive harder to take more responsibilities in soldering more commitment with a vision to take the College forward.
The Minister also assured necessary assistance from the Government’s side in order to improve this College in terms of infrastructure and filling up the vacancy post etc. Also said that, most probably the Government is working hard to include Science and Commerce Streams in the coming academic year to this College.
He also informed the gathering that the Government of Meghalaya is planning to hold separate Recruitment Board for Education Department and not to include under MPSC so that it will be more convenient for the Department in meeting the requirements faster. He concluded while saying that “Let not the amount of salaries decide your service but let your commitment and your responsibilities be the vision oriented”.
He also asked the younger folks to take studies seriously stating that “It is not the road nor the structure but it is the Education sector that can change the standard of our Society “. He stated.
