EAST JAINTIA HILLS :
Chief Secretary D P Wahlang inaugurated the community reading room at Mukhaialong Village, East Jainita Hills District with an objective of providing a reading/learning space for students.
The idea behind such a reading room is to enable those students/aspirants who find it difficult to study at home because of infrastructure and other issues.
It is equipped with inverter-backed lighting system to enable studies during a power outage and a book bank is to be developed soon inside the reading room.
The district administration is planning to build such 50 centres across the district depending on the performance of the centre and how enthusiastic the community is ready to own the same.
