JOWAI:

In a step towards conservation of forest and protecting health of women, the East Jaintia Administration District Administration distributed 500 smokeless stoves to the people of Tuberkmai Shnong.

These stoves were jointly purchased by the Darbar Shnong and the District Administration using district mineral funds (DMF).

By using this stove, it is anticipated that each household will save between Rs 8000 and Rs 10,000 per year on fuel and that the village will save the annual felling of about 7500 trees.

“We congratulate the Darbar Shnong, Tuberkmai, for taking pro-active steps in protecting nature and women and children health”, EJH DC Abhilash Baranwal said.

Most significantly, it will safeguard the health of women and young children, who are typically the most negatively impacted by indoor air pollution.
