East Jaintia Hills District police are all set to conduct intensive checking against reckless driving and warned stern action against road safety violators.
“The district police will be conducting intensive checking drive throughout the district and those found indulging in over speeding, drunk driving, reckless and dangerous driving and any other violation of the Motor Vehicle Act would be strictly dealt as per law,” East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said in a statement issued on Thursday.
He said it has been noticed that over speeding, negligent, reckless and dangerous driving etc are major contributing factors in most of the fatal accidents.
As a matter of fact, during the year 2021, 21 precious lives were lost due to road accidents and in the year 2022 till date, 8 precious lives have been lost to road accidents in the district, he said.
Meanwhile, the district police urge the public and especially the young drivers of both four and two wheelers, not to indulge in reckless and dangerous driving while on road, which endangers not only the lives of the drivers and passengers inside the vehicle but also puts the lives of other commuters and pedestrians at risk.
