SHILLONG:

Former Mawlai legislator and United Democratic Party (UDP) member, Embhalang Syiemlieh and his supporters have quit the party.

“We will follow Syiemlieh into whichever party he joins,” a supporter of the former legislator said.

It is most likely that Syiemlieh will join the National People’s Party (NPP).

There are reports that suspended Congress legislator Process T Sawkmie will contest from UDP in the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to supporters of Syiemlieh the reason for quitting the regional party was because the new office bearers do not recognise the old timers in the party.
