Ernest Mawrie promises overall development if elected

Mawrie said that his priority will be to ease congestion in Mawbah (Barapathar) by developing a one-way road connecting the end of Mawbah with TB Hospital road which will decongest the whole stretch along with a footpath for pedestrians.

BJP state president and aspiring candidate of West Shillong, Ernest Mawrie, on January 11 ensured the overall development of the constituency if elected.

Mawrie said that his priority will be to ease congestion in Mawbah (Barapathar) by developing a one-way road connecting the end of Mawbah with TB Hospital road which will decongest the whole stretch along with a footpath for pedestrians.

Mawrie said that he shall propose to shift TB Hospital and ensure that the area be leased out to a multi-speciality famed hospital brand in the country which will be one of the best hospitals in Meghalaya.

The Mawbah and Jhalupara hawker market located at Cantonment area will be developed into a state of the art hawker centre, with a blueprint of the Singapore model along with designated parking.

“The proposal will be initiated along with the Ministry of Defence led by the BJP government at the Centre,” the state BJP chief said.

He also said that the Gorkha Pathsala football ground will be taken to a whole new level with artificial turf and other modern day facilities under Khelo India Khelo scheme, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of which has been already prepared and necessary approval from the Defence authorities has been sought.

Mawrie said that support for genuine traders by providing hassle free experience from District Council and government as well.

The aspiring candidate from West Shillong said that he wants to improve security in and around the locality, ensuring Jal Jeevan Mission is being properly implemented and the people are benefitted.

He shall also propose a 100 per cent fund for development of infrastructure of Temple and Church under Prasad Scheme, Tourism Ministry.

He also has proposed and raised funds for the Sein Raij and Seng Khasi community of West Shillong from various departments including the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

Mawrie also said if he becomes the MLA, his salary will be utilised to treat the poor for medical purposes, youth to be trained for job and self employment related programmes under various state and central government programmes and ensure every senior citizen will be protected.

He also said that he will ensure the Dorbar Shnongs get direct funding from state and central schemes.

“Beautification of localities will be initiated by providing additional funds and they shall be converted into model localities. Ensure zero tolerance towards drug abuse and provide support to those who are affected by this problem,” the state BJP chief said.

He assured to keep all the promises within five years of becoming the MLA of West Shillong constituency.
