More developed countries of the world are highly industrialised whereas less developed countries are mostly agrarian. Even among different states and Union territories of India those that are industrialised are comparatively rich and so control the economy of the country. Meghalaya has abundant supply of raw materials which can be profitably utilised and hence boost the economy of the state and well-being of its citizens. This is really a challenge to young, educated entrepreneurs who can use their knowledge and skills in uplifting the states and its people. They should not be timid in coming forward and lend their support for the betterment of the society by involving in manufacturing sector which in a long run is productive and profitable. Government also should generously extend its support to young and dynamic boys and girls especially in financing because as the situation is at present there is high potential for industrial sector.
Government employment opportunities are limited and in some departments it is reaching saturation level whereas number of educated youths continues to increase alarmingly thus resulting in unrest and agitations. If authorities can identify industries and manufacturing units for the benefit of potential entrepreneurs, surely this will be of great help to them. For the present it cannot be denied that factories and industries generate better employment opportunities for local people which will usher in growth and development. Meantime government can initially help them in marketing facilities so that self-employed youths will not be discouraged and thus give up hope which may be a deterrent factor to others. On the contrary if majority of young entrepreneurs succeed and prosper it will surely serve as an incentive to young and dynamic youths who with the skill they are trained in will be able to further develop and progress better.
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), New Delhi is a renowned body which has been rendering valuable contribution to the country in respect of industrial production and business enterprises. It is well aware of the richness of North Eastern (NE) India in agricultural, horticultural and mineral sector which can be exploited for uplifting the economy and provide employment opportunities for local youths. Hence with its wide knowledge and expertise FICCI can help NE India for development of industries and factories. In this connection the Chairman of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), James P.K. Sangma attended a meeting with officials of FICCI in New Delhi on May 1 seeking their cooperation in developing Meghalaya. Notably, MIDC has tried it level best in all the previous years for the growth of industrial sector by encouraging talented youths and extending financial support and all types of help that they needed. With the cooperation of FICCI hopefully the state can improve further.
