GUWAHATI:
An eviction drive at Digboi’s Bogapani on February 20 left students appearing for their High School Leaving Certification Examination (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) examination homeless.
The eviction has left the students without a proper home or facilities to continue with their studies, which has led them to conduct a sit-in along National Highway 38.
The students, who were joined by the local people and student organisations, are demanding that the state government make the necessary arrangements for those who are appearing for the final examinations.
It may be recalled that more than 200 houses were earlier reduced to rubble during the railway department’s eviction drive.
The leaders of the student unions, who were present at the protest site, demanded that all facilities be provided at the earliest, and that the government should also make all arrangements for their studies during the examination.
