Faculty induction programme for 70 participants inaugurated at NEHU

SHILLONG:

The University Grants Commission – Human Resource Development Centre (UGC – HRDC) of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, inaugurated the one-month-long ‘Faculty Induction Programme’ for newly appointed teachers of higher education, on March 2.

Kuheli Biswas Das, the coordinator of the programme, said that this year, 234 applications were received, of which, 70 were selected on the basis of eligibility. She also added that the curriculum of the programme “is strictly in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC”.

Giving an overview of the programme, she also informed that, over the next four weeks, the participants will participate in various activities.

SR Rao, Director I/C, UGC-HRDC, NEHU, in his inaugural address, emphasised on the multifaceted nature of this programme and how it is aimed at “freshening up the various aspects of teaching in higher education and gain knowledge of various skills, methods and techniques keeping in line with the requirements of the IGC”.

He also appealed to the participants to make the programme a grand success.

Q Kharbuli, Associate Professor, UGC – HRDC, NEHU, delivered the “vote of thanks” and added that organising such programmes requires effort, and expressed gratitude to all participants over the years, including resource persons associated with the Centre.
