SHILLONG:
Upset over the sudden fall in the market price of cabbages, a farmer from Jongksha village under Mawkynrew constituency, Meli Kharshohnoh, has requested the government to address their plight.
Addressing a press conference here on September 8, a concerned Kharshohnoh said, “We have started harvesting cabbages, but have found that the market price is only Rs 7-8 per kilo. If the price continues to fall, farmers will face starvation.”
She requested the government to come up with ways to supply the vegetable to other states.
In a message to the government, she said, “Do come to our village and witness for yourself the plight of cabbage farmers.”
