TURA:
The first edition of the kite flying competition was on August 28 held at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Chasingre of Tura, West Garo Hills district.
The event, which was graced by WGH District Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, who was also the chief guest, was organised by the Wild Tour Garo Hills and Tura Adventure Club.
The competition, which is an ode to the tradition of kite flying, which remains a cornerstone of childhood for many, saw a huge turn out. It is also an attempt to revive the same for the people of Tura.
The aerial battle took place in two rounds, solo dog fight (freestyle) and squad dog fight (squad vs squad). For the solo round, Mesrang Sangma bagged the first prize, while the Do.reng squad came out victorious in the second round. Bandasal Sangma was awarded for the most creative kite.
