First-ever FIDE rating chess tournament set to kick off in Shillong

The Meghalaya Chess Association is all set to host the first-ever Meghalaya Invitation FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2023, exclusively for the Northeastern players.

The tournament is scheduled to be held from April 3 to 8 at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture in Shillong.

The Meghalaya Invitation FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2023 is being organised under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation and has been generously sponsored by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.

The total prize fund for the tournament is a whopping Rs 1,50,000, which is expected to attract some of the finest chess players from the Northeastern region.

The tournament is open to all Northeastern players who hold a valid FIDE rating.
