Five arrested in Kamakhya temple human sacrifice case

According to the police, the victim was a lady who had come to the temple by train and had prayed before her terrible death. The police have identified the victim and confirmed that the beheaded body was found at the staircase of Jai Durga Temple.

GUWAHATI:

The Assam Police Crime Branch, on April 4, announced that at least five persons have been detained in connection with the purported human sacrifice at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati in June 2019. The incident occurred just before the Ambubachi Mela in 2019.

According to the police, the victim was a lady who had come to the temple by train and had prayed before her terrible death. The police have identified the victim and confirmed that the beheaded body was found at the staircase of Jai Durga Temple.

Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Borah spoke to the media about the case on April 4, stating that the incident occurred on June 19-June 20, 2019, and that the city police had failed to gather any information about the deceased. However, they had asserted that it was a case of murder and subsequently registered a case at the Jalukbari police station.

With the recent arrests, the overall number of arrests in the case has now increased to nine, with three of them being made lately. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to determine the motives and involvement of all those detained in connection with the case.
