Five sitting MLAs resign from State Assembly; set to join UDP

The legislators submitted their resignation letter to Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh.

SHILLONG:

Five sitting legislators resigned as members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on January 18 and, are set to join the United Democratic Party (UDP) today afternoon.

The five MLAs include HSPDP MLA from Mawkyrwat Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Nongkrem legislator Lambor Malngiang, suspended Congress MLAs – PT Sawkmie (Mawlai) and Mayralborn Syiem (Nongpoh) – and AITC MLA from Sutnga Saipung Shitlang Pale.

The legislators submitted their resignation letter to Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh at his office chambers in Old Assembly Building in Khyndai Lad here on Wednesday morning.
