The East Khasi Hills district administration has given time till November 1 to Federation of Khasi, Jaintia Garo People (FKJGP) leaders to respond to the show cause issued to them on October 28 failing which legal action would be initiated against them.
The show cause had alleged that they had violated conditions imposed by the authorities who had given permission for the rally on October 25.
The East Khasi Hills district administration stated that in the letter signed by Elton C Warjri and Eldie N Lyngdoh, the FKJGP had agreed to abide by all the rules and conditions as imposed by the district administration.
“This is contrary to the undertaking given by Eldie N. Lyngdoh, General Secretary,
FKJGP,” the East Khasi Hills district magistrate said.
“You are therefore directed to show cause as to why penal action should not be initiated against you for violating the conditions as laid down by the District Administration in its Order dated 25th October, 2022,” the order stated.
Apart from Lyngdoh, the FKJGP vice-president Elton C. Warjri has also been served with the show cause notice.
