Food baskets distributed to TB patients in Ri Bhoi

PMTBMBA is a newly-launched campaign wherein any individual, political parties, NGOs, corporates, among others can adopt TB patients on treatment for a minimum of six months for their nutritional support, diagnostic and vocational training.

NONGPOH:

The office of the District Tuberculosis (TB) Officer, Ri Bhoi district distributed food baskets to TB patients pertaining to nutritional needs. The event was chaired and welcomed by K. Lyngdoh, medical and health officer, in charge of Patharkhmah CHC.

W Chyne, MOTC, Umsning TU on behalf of E. Kalwing, DTO Ri Bhoi informed that Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (PMTBMBA) is a newly-launched campaign wherein any individual, political parties, NGOs, corporates, among others can adopt TB patients on treatment for a minimum of 6 months for their nutritional support, diagnostic and vocational training.

Chyne created awareness on TB, further informing about the general signs and symptoms of the disease, adding that anyone facing the symptoms should visit the nearest health and welfare centre, primary health centre and community health centre for screening and testing, which is free of cost.

P Lyngdoh Mawphlang, STS, Nongpoh TU informed that the food baskets were donated by Dr P Kharnarry, District Medical and Health Officer, Ri Bhoi district, Dr A. Rynjah, Assistant Program Officer, State NTEP, Shillong and K. Lyngdoh, Medical and Health Officer, I/C Patharkhmah CHC for 6 months.

He urged people to come forward to support the patients as there are many who are yet to be adopted by the donors, moving towards TB elimination by 2025.
