NONGPOH:
New football academy was launched by the Ri Bhoi Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, at Nongpoh for its students both boys and girls on October 8.
The opening ceremony of the Academy was attended by Mayralborn Syiem, MLA Nongpoh Constituency as chief guest; coach Juban June Swer, coach Khraw Syngkli, principal of the school W Radu and others.
The objective of this football academy is to promote the sport spirit among the students of the school, principal of the school, W Radu said ‘sports should be a career choice for all; sports also make people disciplined and build habit of working hard to achieve dreams.
Speaking to The Meghalayan, when asked who can join the Academy, Radu said that for now the academy is open only for our students, but in the days to come others may be considered  with the recommendation of the school and consent of the parents.
Mayralborn Syiem as the chief guest of the event congratulated the school for starting this academy for younger generation and wished them all the best for the future. He had also said, as public representatives he will try his best to provide support the academy for the benefit of the youth.
The opening ceremony of the academy saw cultural events and the drill by the first students of the academy along with the coaches.
