Former BJP MLA Aminul Haque Laskar joins Congress

Guwahati, Mar 20: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Aminul Haque Laskar, the former BJP MLA and ex-Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, joined Assam Pradesh Congress Committee in presence AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh and APCC president Bhupen Borah and others on Wednesday at Rajiv bhawan in Guwahati.

Earliar the former MLA Aminul Haque Laskar has resigned from the BJP’s primary membership, alleging that the party has lost its political ideology on Tuesday.

Laskar, who was the solitary minority MLA in the ex-Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam government in 2016, was appointed as the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly in 2020.

He lost to AIUDF candidate Karim Uddin Barbhuiya in the 2021 Assam legislative assembly elections.

Several ex-minister and senior leader of AIUDF have joined the Congress.
