Former Jowai legislator Sing Mulieh passes away

Mulieh started out as a teacher and taught at Marian Hill High School, before he contested his first election to the JHADC in 1978, where he won four terms.

SHILLONG:

Former Jowai legislator Sing Mulieh passed away at his residence at Loompyrdi Iongpiah, Jowai on Tuesday morning.

Mulieh was a two-time MLA and represented Jowai.

He first won in 1998 on a United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket when the party swept all the seven seats in Jaintia Hills. He retained his seat in 2003.

He was also a member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council and was its Chief Executive Member (CEM).

Mulieh started out as a teacher and taught at Marian Hill High School, before he contested his first election to the JHADC in 1978, where he won four terms.

Mulieh had joined the BJP and was planning to contest from the party in the 2023 assembly elections.

He will be cremated on May 12 at the Seiñraij crematorium at Ialong.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma took to a micro blogging site to condole Mulieh’s demise.
