SHILLONG:
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong laid foundation stones for the offices of Mawshynrut PWD (Roads) Division, Shallang PWD (Roads) Subdivision and the construction and upgradation of a 12-km road from Thaiem to Mawsyrtap on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Tynsong assured that the office of the Executive Engineer, Mawshynrut Division and Shallang Subdivision will start functioning from January 2023.
He added that the newly created offices will cater to the needs and requirements of the people who no longer need to spend money and time to travel all the way to Nongstoin to get their official work done.
“Amidst hurdles due to the pandemic, issues relating to Harijan Colony, ILP and CAA, the government is moving forward with courage and determination to work for the interest of the people,” the deputy chief minister said.
Meanwhile, Nongstoin MLA, Macmillan Byrsat applauded the MDA government for giving priority to West Khasi Hills district, adding, “We cannot defy the fact that developmental works happened in the district in the past four and a half years.”
Others who also spoke at the function include Mawshynrut MLA, Gigur Myrthong, James N S Lakiang Superintending Engineer PWD Western Circle and F Sohlang Executive Engineer PWD (Roads) among others.
