Tura:
One of Garo Hills’ most sought after singer, Monica D Momin, who made a record hit with her song I wanna be a tik tok, has been taken in for questioning by women police in Tura after an FIR was lodged against her for harassing traders, seizing their goods and allegedly forcing businessmen to align with her trading organisation.
West Garo Hills SP Vivekanand Singh Rathore informed that the singer was picked up from her home in the Chengkurigre locality near Chunmati, outside of Tura.
It has been alleged the singer, recently, led a group to forcibly enter shops of traders and seized goods including tobacco products claiming there is no license issued for its sale.
At the same time, she is accused by many of attempting to monopolise the trade of various items through her businessman husband.
Some traders bringing in fish and meat products from Assam have alleged that they are being forced to do business through her husband or join her organisation.
