Gary Lu of Splitsvilla 13 fame and popular influencer on October 20 said that Northeastern people face racism in in mainland India and he himself has been a victim several times while urging people to be more open minded and also accept people from the region as they are.
Lu is on his second visit to Shillong for a musical event curated by Red Flame Event Mangaement on October 20.
In an exclusive interview with The Meghalayan, Lu said that he is in love with Shillong’s climate and the people. He added that a day ago he visited Wei Sawdong and Rainbow falls.
“What is the need of going to Bali when you can enjoy so much of nature’s beauty right here in Meghalaya”. he said.
On being asked about his journey from a small town like Dehradun to one of the most popular reality show of India – Splitsvilla — he said that it was always a dream to be on national television. The journey was very challenging yet he enjoyed a lot. Though he could not win the season, but the experience was something to cherish for life.
Larsen Palmer Sawian, the event organiser, said that the show was a crowd-puller as entry was free for ladies till 9pm. Larsen is the founder of the Red Flame Event Management.
Speaking to The Meghalayan, Larsen said “We have hosted and managed events all over Shillong, Polo Orchid Umiam, Polo Orchid Cherrapunjee, RI Bhoi and Jowai, just to name a few. We have also collaborated with various event managers for the Autumn fest, Fashion show, DJ fest, Winter carnival, North East Riders Domain (NERD) fashion show etc. We are also involved in hosting weekly club events at Mikado, Irish Pub and Living Roof. Having Gary as our main attraction is proving to be really a plus point as now we are having a very good public response.”
