TURA:

Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Rakesh A Sangma, has submitted his resignation letter to Meghalaya Governor on February 27, a development that was first broken by The Meghalayan February 25.

The official letter of the resignation by the outgoing CEM was signed and submitted on Sunday night to Deputy Chairman Albinush R Marak, who coincidently will be replacing Sangma in his position on Monday.

The closed-door meeting to select Albinush Marak as the new CEM was also broken by The Meghalayan on February 26.

In his brief letter to the governor, CEM Rakesh Sangma stated that he was resigning from the council chief’s position on moral ground with immediate effect.
