Shillong:
A member of the district council (MDC) of Garo Hills Autonomous Council (GHADC) has urged the government to set up Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) centres in the region to aid students coming from rural areas.
“We have hundreds of students coming from all walks of life. Not everyone can afford to board buses to Tura or Shillong. We need the government to consider the plight of students coming from the remote areas of the region,” said Rinaldo K Sangma.
Sangma also asked the state government to immediately take cognisance of the matter and work on it on a priority basis to save the careers and future of the young students.
Sangma further said that the government of Meghalaya should set up examination centres in each and every block, and not just at Tura and Shillong.
