Governor conveys Diwali greetings to people of Meghalaya

Mishra said Diwali, the festival of lights, inspires everyone to move from darkness to light, and symbolises triumph of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali (Deepawali), the Governor of Meghalaya Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Meghalaya and expressed hope that the festivity will usher in peace, prosperity and joy in the State.

Mishra said Diwali, the festival of lights, inspires everyone to move from darkness to light, and symbolises triumph of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

The Governor called for the promotion of amity and brotherhood in the society.

While extending his greetings to the people of the state, the Governor stressed on the importance of a pollution free Deepavali celebration and urged people to shun the use of loud crackers to minimise noise pollution and the emission of poisonous gases.

“Following the guidance from our apex leadership for ‘Swachh Bharat’, we must, this Diwali, ensure Shant Bharat as well,” the Governor appealed in his message.
