Govt-HPC meeting this month: Tynsong

“However, we are busy preparing for the G-20 Summit to be held in the city and once the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs (Sniawbhalang Dhar) comes back we will fix a date for the meeting with the HPC,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said.

SHILLONG:

The meeting between the state government and the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) is set to be delayed once again, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed on April 12.

Informing media persons, the Tynsong said that the government was committed to hold discussion with the members of the HPC within this month.

“However, we are busy preparing for the G-20 Summit to be held in the city and once the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs (Sniawbhalang Dhar) comes back we will fix a date for the meeting with the HPC,” Tynsong said.

The G-20 Summit will be held on April 17 and 18.

He said that at the meeting the government will inform the members of the HPC the stand of the government and as well as listen to their side of the story.

Meanwhile, chairman of the HPC, Gurjeet Singh, informed that the state government has not communicated to them when the meeting will be scheduled.

He also said that the HPC was supposed to reply on the blueprint presented to them by April 10, but since it was a local holiday the meeting could not be held.

Earlier, Singh had said that experts from their side had examined the blueprint indicating the detailed drawings and designs of the multi-storey buildings proposed for relocating 342 families of Harijan Colony.

Initially, the HPC had sought more time from the government to study the blueprint but the state government refused to do so.
