Govt is confused: Ardent on Roster issue

Speaking to the media during his on-going hunger strike over the reservation policy that started today, VPP chief Chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit referred to the comment made by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on the “retrospective” and “prospective” nature of the roster system.

SHILLONG:

Voice of the People Party (VPP) Chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, on May 23, called the government a “confused” lot for reportedly being unable to decide on the roster system and asked, “if all the political parties, barring the VPP and KHNAM, were satisfied with the roster presentation, then what is the need to institute an expert committee?”

“What is surprising to note is the government’s move to set up an expert committee on the roster. When the government had already conducted the all-party meeting and the political parties have expressed satisfaction, then why the expert committee? This is nothing but an eyewash,” he said.

Speaking to the media during his on-going hunger strike over the reservation policy that started today, Basaiawmoit referred to the comment made by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on the “retrospective” and “prospective” nature of the roster system.

“He (CM) said there is no retrospective and prospective roster – a roster is a roster. What does he mean by that? Even he is confused and, in the process, the government is misleading the people on this issue,” the VPP chief said.

On the government’s move to put on hold all recruitment processes, Basaiawmoit welcomed the step taken by the government but maintained that it should come out with a notification and not by a mere announcement through the media.
