Gunotsav to be conducted in three phases: Govt

GUWAHATI:

The government has decided to track and assess the performance of every child at the elementary education level in all state-run, provincialised and tea garden-managed schools, from April 20.

Titled, “Gunotsav”, the initiative, in operation since 2017, will also devise remedial measures to fill learning gaps in children, a notification issued by the government on February 19, said.

Aimed at ensuring quality education to improve learning outcomes in the state, the initiative will cover 46,251 government, provincialised and tea garden-managed schools, comprising 42,51,524 students.

To be implemented in three phases, the first phase will be held from April 20-22 in schools under Baksa, Chirang, Dhubri, Hailakandi, Lakhimpur, among others, while the second and third phases are scheduled from April 25-27 and May 10-12, respectively.

Places such as Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Darrang, and Dhemaji, to name a few, are being targeted for the second phase and the third phase will be conducted in Barpeta, Cachar, Golaghat, Hojai and others, including Kamrup and Sivasagar, the notification said.

Roshni Aparanji Korati, Samagra Siksha Abhijan (SSA) mission director has directed all inspectors of schools, district elementary education officers (DEEO) and district mission coordinator (DMC) of all district SSAs to cooperate with the evaluation process.

The notification further laid down rules regarding question papers as the academic session will commence in April.
