Hailstorm lashes parts of Upper Assam, several houses damaged

Assam woke up to an unusual sight on December 27, with severe hailstorm lashing Moran in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district and other places.

As per reports, temperatures in the two districts dropped to 11 degree celsius after the hailstorm, keeping people indoors.

It was also reported that several houses in Moran and Tingkhang were damaged due to a severe hailstorm.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), had earlier on December 26, warned of snowfall in Arunachal Pradesh, and hailstorms in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya in the next 24 hours.

Further it said that this may lead to dip in temperature across these places.
