Health camp, awareness programme organised in Baghmara

During the programme, free medical check-up was also conducted for the villagers.

BAGHMARA:

As part of the month long awareness-cum-outreach programme, the District Legal Services Authority South Garo Hills, Baghmara organised a day long health camp as well as an awareness programme at Dabram village situated in the outskirts of Baghmara on November 16.

The district and sessions Judge G Rani, while informing the gathering about the objective of the awareness camp, stated that its basic objective is to empower the citizens by parting information on various benefits that are available in their department, such as free legal aid services.

“There are so many rural poor who are not aware of this benefit, but it is the endeavour of our department that nobody will be deprived of their rights only because they are poor,” she said.

She also stated that they will be visiting the district jail to see the welfare of the inmates, as many of them are complaining of relatives abandoning them in the jail. She urged upon the gathering to treat them as humans, to go and meet them and seek legal help.

She further informed that this campaign includes door to door visits which will help the rural mass and create more awareness in legal aid services.

Others who were present and spoke on the occasion included FA Marak, DSP Baghmara, DS Marbaniang, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary DLSA Baghmara, SDMO Baghmara, branch manager SBI Baghmara.

As part of the programme, interactive sessions were also held where legal issues and other matters were taken up. During the programme, free medical check-up was also conducted for the villagers.
