Heroin worth Rs 1.8 crore seized from Kohima; one held

With this, the total amount of heroin seized by Nagaland police during a state-wide operation that began from January 1, 2022, has gone up to 137.5 gm.

DIMAPUR:

The narcotics cell of Nagaland police seized around 600 gm of heroin worth Rs 1.8 crore in the international market from Khuzama area of Kohima, recently. One person, identified as Lenminthang Khongsai (29), has been arrested in connection with the seizure, the police said in a statement issued on March 1.

The person hails from Phaijang village under Motbung police station of Senapati district and a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him, the police informed.

The police further said that the contraband, concealed in 50 soap cases, was seized from a vehicle (registration number MNOSP-1186) by Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) personnel manning the check point at Khuzama.

With this, the total amount of heroin seized by Nagaland police during a state-wide operation that began from January 1, 2022, has gone up to 137.5 gm, the police informed. They also added that during the operation, they have made various seizures including arms and ammunition, and have also arrested 78 persons, till February 21.

The seizures included 1,01,856 spasmo proxyvon tablets and other synthetic drugs, 20.1 gm brown sugar, 137.5 gm heroin, 492 bottles of cough syrup, 26 arms, 31 ammunition and 13 explosives.

Urging the people to help the police in combating the drug menace in the state by providing information and inputs on sale, distribution, and transport of any form of narcotics, the police asked them to contact the nearest police station or contact police personnel directly through CUG phone numbers available in the Call Your Cop mobile App.
