Hills festival begins, focuses on food and green environment

Taba Chake, one of the headliners stole the show with his original songs while he sang in English, Hindi and also in his regional language, Nyishi.

Away from the hustle bustle of the Shillong traffic, The first day of the anticipated Hills Festival ended in high spirits. As the sun set in, the mood of the festival kicked in with people from far and wide dancing to the tunes of musicians like Taba Chake, Bloodywood and Hanumankind.

Da Minot, a traditional band performed the opening act, following which dew drops got the
audience jumping with excitement with a few reggae English and Khasi numbers.

Vilakshan Gaur came all the way from Mumbai to see his favourite band Bloodywood. “I am a big time metal fan, and when I saw the lineup for The Hills Festival included Bloodywood I could not contain my excitement and immediately booked my tickets, watching my favourite band in Shillong, what could be better?” he said.

Besides the hyped up musicians who have flocked from all around the country, one of the festivals biggest limelight was the forage aisle. Celebrating the perfect culmination of local ingredients withthe urban food eating style, the exclusive dining served some mouth watering culinary.

Chef Thomas Zacharia led the team of chefs and made sure the culinary treat was not compromised on.

The flea market was a right example for promoting vocal for local. All Meghalaya based
entrepreneurs were a result of pandemic when they decided to pragmatise their creativity and begin their businesses.

‘My Passion Shillong’, a project of DC East Khasi Hills collaborated with the hills festival and made sure that the festival was eco-friendly and ensured proper waste management.

Rapper Hanumankind and Metal band Bloodywood made sure the audience headbanged to their beats. As the curtains came down on the first day of the festival, the hopes have gone up for the audience.
