The members of the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO), on Thursday, met the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Ri Bhoi district to seek information regarding the recent agreement signed by the state government for handing over of 15 Sub Centres in the district to HANS Foundation, one of the registered private charitable trusts in India.
Members of the HITO, Ri Bhoi district, led by Aiborlang Nongrum, the working President, and other members met the District Medical & Health Officer P Kharnarry seeking clarification over the MoU signed by the Meghalaya State Government and the HANS Foundation.
The list of Sub Centres in Ri Bhoi district handed to the management of HANS Foundation includes Sub Centres under Mawlasnai PHC, Mawhati PHC, Umden PHC, Byrnihat PHC, Patharkhmah PHC, Umsning CHC, Patharkhmah CHC, Kyrdem PHC, and under Umsning CHC the sub centres includes Tyrso S/c, Thadrang S/C, Sohphoh S/C, Sonidan S/C, Umshaken S/C, Pillingkata S/C, Amjong S/C, Killing S/C, Tasku S/C, Kyrdem Kulai S/C, Mawlang S/C, Umsohphria S/C, Mawbseiñ S/C, Raitong S/C, and Umtari Sub Center.
Speaking to the press, Apborlang Nongrum said that the organisation was shocked to learn of the MoU signed by the Meghalaya State Government with the HANS Foundation through the Governor of Meghalaya, without any public hearing or announcements.
Further, he stated that to gather the correct information, the organisation sought the information and details from the DM&HO which turned out to be beneficial for the general public of the state, however, the State should make the process of handing over these Sub Centres to a registered private charitable trust public.
