HITO threatens to file defamation case against Amit Shah for calling Meghalaya most corrupt state

HITO president Donbok Dkhar said Shah should have been specific and not tagged the entire state as corrupt.

SHILLONG:

The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO), on February 18, slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for calling Meghalaya the most corrupt state and threatened to file a defamation case against him if he fails to bring investigating agencies to probe the alleged corruption cases in the state before February 23.

Addressing a press conference in Shillong, HITO president Donbok Dkhar said Shah should have been specific and not tagged the entire state as corrupt.

“If we are corrupt, please investigate and catch us and give us proof but if we are not, then you are just blabbering nonsense without taking any action,” said Dkhar.

He added, “We will be pleased if the union minister sends the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate on or before February 23; we will be more than happy to cooperate with the BJP and the central government.”

Assuring to provide all evidences against corrupt individuals, be it members of pressure groups, politicians or anyone, HITO dared the union home minister to act on it.

“If you dare to call us a corrupt state, then please do the needful; if they cannot do it before February 23 then we have no other option but to file a defamation case against the home minister of India.”
