SHILLONG:
The High-Powered Committee (HPC) on the construction of the new Assembly Building at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong Township that met at Taj Vivanta in Shillong, on June 8, accepted the proposal for the second phase of the construction of the building.
The meeting was attended by Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar besides other legislators and officers of various line departments.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma informed that the proposal was accepted by the HPC, Assembly Secretariat and line departments, adding that it will soon be submitted to the DoNER Ministry.
Apart from this, the HPC also reviewed of the progress of construction of the main building, and presentation on security systems.
