HSPDP leaders to join UDP

The sitting legislator of Sohiong constituency is Samlin Malngiang of the HSPDP.

SHILLONG:

Leaders of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) Rangshken area under Sohiong constituency, who on June 23 have quit the party, intend to join the United Democratic Party (UDP).

The sitting legislator of Sohiong constituency is Samlin Malngiang of the HSPDP.

He had defeated Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh in the 2018 polls who was then with the Congress. Lyngdoh will be joining the UDP on June 29.

The HSPDP members who have left the party from Rangshken are  Arnes Kharphuli, president, and M Langstieh among others.

Others who will be joining are Rishot Kurbah and Balom Mawlong.

It may be pointed out that the HSPDP had won only two seats in 2018 elections there are indications that Cabinet Minister and Mawkyrwat legislator Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar is leaving the party to join the UDP.
