NONGPOH:
Alpha English Higher Secondary School, Nongpoh was among a few schools based outside of Shillong that featured in the Top 10 lists of meritorious students in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations – both Science and Commerce streams.
Rakhi Kumari Rai from Alpha English Higher Secondary School in Nongpoh made the school proud by securing the 9th position in the HSSLC exams – Commerce stream. She also shared the position with two other students — Kashish Sharma from St Anthony’s HS School and Eleazer Lytep of St Edmund’s HS School – both in Shillong
An elated principal of Alpha HS School, WK Blah said, “We feel proud. We thank God for this achievement and I also thank the teachers. Yes, the commerce results were good – the percentage is good. We hope that going forward, we will work harder and rise.”
The rank holder, however, is not in Nongpoh as she is currently with her parents at her hometown in Bihar.
The other schools, based outside of Shillong, that did well in the HSSLC exams included –Mawsynram Border Area Higher Secondary School in Mawsynram with Nangkhraw Laloo securing the 8th position and Anderson Higher Secondary School in Upper New Nongstoin with Daiairi Nongrem securing the 10th position in the Commerce stream.
In Science, the only school, based outside of Shillong, that secured a position was RK Mission Higher Secondary School in Sohra (Cherrapunjee) with Rahul Das securing the 6th position.
