Hundreds of youths and elders, including women, joined the Voice of the People Party (VPP) during an enrolment drive organised at Amlarem’s Enowel Hall on Friday.
The VPP also elect leaders and members of the party in the area under Amlarem constituency.
VPP chief and Nongkrem MLA Ardent Basaiawmoit along with other party leaders and workers were also present at the meeting.
Speaking at the gathering, Basaiawmoit spoke about the party’s policies and its ideology with its main aim to eradicate corruption through its clean politics campaign.
He also said that the VPP aims to put up candidates from Amlarem area in the upcoming district council elections and also in the next legislative Assembly elections.
“We have decided to put up our own party candidates for next year’s Lok Sabha polls and we are confident that we will win”, the VPP chief said.
He urged the people of Amlarem to support the party so that clean and good governance would come in the state for their benefit.
The meeting elected Jamshaphrang Pohtam as president of Amlarem Block, Isack Shylla as vice-president, Rijied Lamin as general secretary and felicitated all those who joined the party as members of Amlarem Block.
