HYC raises concern over recruitment

SHILLONG:

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has written to the chairman of Meghalaya Medical Services Recruitment Board (MMSCB), Dr Joram Beda, demanding proper recruitment process to the posts of Medical & Health Officers and Junior Specialist under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Meghalaya.

The advertisement was issued on December 2 calling for online application to the mentioned posts and for the same to be submitted within December 10.

It also stated therein that after scrutiny a rejection list will be published and the candidates are given five days time to file representation against such proposed addendum dated December 8.

However, vide addendum dated December 8, it is informed that the date for the examination is declared to be held on December 14 and as such the time period provided for representation in cases of rejection/complaints is reduced to only three days from the date of closure of the application portal.

The HYC stated that as per the advertisement, the total number of posts to be filled up is 400 for both the Medical & Health Officers (M&HO) and Junior Specialists and that the required qualifications for them are totally different.

For the post of M&HO, an MBBS or equivalent degree holder is required but for the posts of Junior Specialists, the desired/required qualification is MD, MS, DNB, DM, M.Ch Diploma or other equivalent degree.

The HYC stated that the said advertisement does not even specify the number of posts for each category of doctor, which is uncalled for and raised serious doubts as to the whole process of recruitment.

The HYC demanded that the examination scheduled to be held on December 14 should be postponed and to clearly specify the number of posts to be filled up as M&HO and Junior Specialists.
