HYC seeks Guv’s intervention on irregularities in printing and stationary dept

The HYC wants that responsibility be fixed on every person involved in this illegal act, but the government is not paying any heed to their “reasonable” demands.

SHILLONG:

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has petitioned Governor Satya Pal Malik over the unauthorised expenditures, irregularities, illegal allotment of works and undue favour to a particular firm (s) by the Directorate Printing and Stationery Department.

The HYC, as per information through right to information (RTI) news report in local media, has sought the intervention of the Governor in the matter.

“It has come to our knowledge that the preliminary audit report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has detected certain irregularities in the Printing and Stationery Department, leading to the unauthorised and misappropriation of a huge amount of public fund for the period 2010 to 2020,” the HYC stated.

HYC general secretary, Roy Kupar Synrem said that based on the “facts and circumstances”, the council had written to the state government demanding an inquiry on the alleged irregularities, misappropriation of public fund and corruption by providing undue favour to a particular firm without following due process on July 11.

The HYC wants that responsibility be fixed on every person involved in this illegal act, but the government is not paying any heed to their “reasonable” demands and therefore it is seeking the Governor’s intervention on the matter.

The HYC said that pending inquiry, they have demanded that the Director of Printing and Stationery be put under suspension as provided under Rule 6 (1) (a) of the Meghalaya Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2019, in order to ensure a free, fair and just inquiry.

“This is to prevent the incumbent director to manipulate, hamper or tamper with evidences, records and also to prevent him from misusing his position to influence any person(s) acquainted with the subject matter of inquiry,” Roy said.
