HYC submits memorandum demanding review of roster system

Shillong:

Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), on March 29, submitted a memorandum to the State’s Minister of Law Ampareen Lyngdoh, demanding that the government look into the supposed shortcomings of the roster system, particularly the recruitment in several government offices under the Reservation Policy.

Speaking to mediapersons, HYC president Robertjune Kharjahrin said that as per the rules, the roster system will come into effect once the Reservation Policy is implemented, and alleged that some government departments have failed to produce documents required for the process.

HYC felt that the roster system should come into effect from the day it gets the nod and advised the government not to backdate since this would give rise to many problems.

Commenting on the Chief Minister’s remarks that one should move the court if they do not agree with the roster system, HYC president said that it will only come to that if the government fails to listen to the public’s plea.

It also said that if the matter is not addressed, they will go to the streets and protest, while pointing out that the chief minister has to shoulder all responsibilities if communal issues arise, citing the MBoSE issue.
