I will be BJP’s face in 2023 poll in Tripura: Chief Minister Manik Saha

Don't go after any false campaigns, which have been floated against me that I have become chief minister only for a few months, the chief minister urged his supporters and workers.

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, on June 13, made it clear that he will be the face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming 2023 assembly polls.

Urging supporters and workers of the party not to fall prey to “false” campaigns by rivals saying he will only be retaining the post for a brief period of time, Saha, while addressing a boot committee meeting of the BJP in Agartala, said, “Don’t go after any false campaigns, which have been floated against me that I have become chief minister only for a few months. You must have understood by now that in the 2023 assembly elections, I will certainly be the face of the BJP.”

Talking about his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda, Saha said that both of them have full faith in him.

“BJP is an altogether different party. During my meeting with the Prime Minister, he wanted to know from me whether I am able to sleep or not. I told him, I was first given the responsibility of party president, later I was elected for the Rajya Sabha and now the responsibility of the whole state is on my shoulders,” Saha said.

“I did not want to be the chief minister or have a wish to hold any of the charges I have been offered so far. It is the party which asked me because it believes in me,” he stated.

Earlier, when Biplab Kumar Deb resigned from the post of chief minister on May 14, Saha, who was the state president of the BJP, was appointed as the 11th Chief Minister of Tripura.
