Increased cattle smuggling to Bangladesh a concern for Meghalaya 

Stating that cases have been reported to him on such persistent smuggling, Hek mentioned that the officials of the veterinary department are continuously working with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and the State police to deal with such illegal activities.

SHILLONG:

Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister AL Hek, on December 13, expressed concern over increased cattle smuggling to Bangladesh via Meghalaya.

Stating that cases have been reported to him on such persistent smuggling, Hek mentioned that the officials of the veterinary department are continuously working with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and the State police to deal with such illegal activities.

He also said that the department takes care of the seized cattle till the time it is auctioned off.

Asked if the department is getting regular reports on such things. Hek said that it is only sometimes that such reports are given to the department.
