Indian Army conducts security meeting at Arunachal’s Longding

The meeting was aimed at interacting with village heads and families of local militants of the region to motivate their wards to shun violence and join the mainstream.

GUWAHATI:

Longding Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (Inspector General of Assam Rifles -North) of Spear Corps, conducted a security meeting at Longding town in Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh, on June 4.

The meeting was aimed at interacting with village heads and families of local militants of the region to motivate their wards to shun violence and join the mainstream.

Families were briefed about the benefits of surrender and village heads were guided to motivate the militants and ensure that no local youth joins the insurgents’ group.

A total of 48 families and 130 village heads of the Longding district interacted during the meeting.

Village heads and families assured the security forces that they will ensure that their wards shun violence and join the mainstream.

The Longding-based Battalion of the Army under the ages of the Dao Division has been carrying out continuous operations in the south Arunachal Pradesh area.

Along with such operations, the Battalion has also played a key role in improving the lifestyles of the local populace through various projects.
