Together with the rest of the country, Garo Hills also observed May Day, also known as International Labour Day on Monday with a special programme in Baghmara, the district headquarters of South Garo Hills.
The District Legal Services Authority Baghmara under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority) NALSA Meghalaya observed the special day with an awareness programme conducted at the main market.
Addressing the public and workers, the Labour Inspector of Baghmara Prabakar M Sangma informed that the state Labour department has introduced the building and other construction workers welfare scheme for the benefit of registered construction workers to provide health and other welfare measures.
He also elaborated in detail on the various schemes and benefits such as e-SHRAM, maternity benefits, medical assistance to the beneficiaries, scholarship to children, family pensions\, and other unemployment allowances.
Woman police sub-inspector Respina A Sangma also spoke on Rights and other provisions which can be benefited the Police department.
