SHILLONG:
The Miss Meghalaya 2022 and Miss Teen Meghalaya pageants were held at U Soso Tham auditorium in Shillong on September 10.
More than 70 girls had auditioned for Miss Meghalaya 2022, out of which 27 were selected for the pageant and eight for the Fashion Show.
Irene Dkhar emerged as the winner of Miss Meghalaya 2022, while Jessica Oliver Kharlukhi and Ridamaya Passah won the first-runner up and the second-runner up titles respectively.
For the Miss Meghalaya 2022 pageant, the winner gets to take home a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and she will also be representing the state in the Miss North East 2022 pageant, which will be held in Kohima. The first runner-up and the second runner-up will be awarded Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
From the Miss Teen Meghalaya category, which was introduced this year, Daniella Shirley Majaw, a Class X student from Loreto Convent, was crowned the winner, while Wanlum Rynjah was adjudged first runner-up and Frensila M Marak as second.
Organised by the tourism department, the programme began with an opening song by well-known local artist, Valden John Pariat.
The judges for the event were Sanwaka Surong – reigning 18th Sunsilk Mega Miss North East, Alexander Kharkongor – assistant director of MACS, Gargee Nandy – top 5 Femina Miss India 2022, Amjad Khan – event/pageant director, Brian Wahlang – renowned fashion choreographer, educator and environmentalist, Rochelle Wahlang – event manager, and Divija Gambhir – Miss India Multinational 2021.
