James for public-private partnerships in state health sector

Speaking as the chief guest at the Silver Jubilee celebration of Holy Cross Health Centre in Mairang, Sangma cited past collaborations between the government and private entities from time to time and hoped there would be more such tie-ups for the benefit of the people of the state.

MAIRANG:

Health minister James PK Sangma on October 8 expressed hope that there would be more public-private partnerships in the health sector in future as part of the combined effort of serving the people.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Silver Jubilee celebration of Holy Cross Health Centre in Mairang, Sangma cited past collaborations between the government and private entities from time to time and hoped there would be more such tie-ups for the benefit of the people of the state.

Sangma also praised the health centre management for the arduous journey taken by them and acknowledged the challenges that they had faced in the past 25 years, adding that the health centre is a testimony to the services and hard work put in by the management in its efforts to serve the people of the area.

The health minister also said that the occasion provides the management with an opportunity to introspect and to acknowledge the contribution made by health care workers and administrators and to look ahead in its continuous attempt to serve the people with empathy and compassion.

Fervour was added to the celebration by melodious songs and colourful dances performed by the staff of the centre some of whom were also felicitated during the programme.

Others present at the function included Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department Sampath Kumar, Archbishop of Shillong, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, local MDC Batskhem Ryntathiang, Deputy Commissioner Eastern West Khasi Hills district, Wilfred Nongsiej, Provincial Superior, Holy Cross North Indian Province, Sister Linet, Administrator, Holy Cross Health Centre Sister Jesse Jose, health care professionals, government officials, traditional heads and others.
