KAS making all efforts to get Eighth Schedule tag for Khasi language: Paul

Informing that the government is doing its best, Lyngdoh said that a language that was studied at graduation level at Calcutta university in 1900 certainly deserves the status of being recognised in the Eighth Schedule.

SHILLONG:

Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh, on August 25, informed that a lot of efforts are being made by the Khasi Authors Society (KAS) to propagate and strengthen its claim for the inclusion of Khasi in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

“In December, the KAS is organising a seminar in Delhi on the matter, and they will also organise a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on the claim,” Lyngdoh told media persons.

Informing that the government is doing its best, Lyngdoh said that a language that was studied at graduation level at Calcutta university in 1900 certainly deserves the status of being recognised in the Eighth Schedule.
