SHILLONG:
Two students from Kerala, who had come to Shillong to do their internship with a city-based NGO, were assaulted in Jaiaw here on Friday afternoon.
According to a member of the Impulse NGO Network with whom the two students – Rejaz M Sydeek and Sarath S Thambi — were doing their internship said that she received a call from one of the victims after they were assaulted.
One of the victims received injuries on his lips and the other was injured in his hands when the attackers hit them with helmets.
“These boys who were on their bikes left the place when the owner of the eatery and others intervened,” the member of the Impulse NGO Network said.
Both were treated by doctors of Robert’s Hospital for their injuries.
The two were having lunch in the eatery near Robert’s Hospital, Jaiaw, after finishing their work.
The two students pursuing a course in Master of Social Work started doing their internship with Impulse NGO on May 27 and Friday was their last day. They are leaving for Guwahati on Saturday. An FIR has been filed in this connection.
